The Aleppo’s Kitchen Story

• SINCE 2013 •

We left our home of Aleppo, Syria as we fled the civil war and made our way to the United States in 2012.

We longed for a community built around a table with good food, but Anaheim lacked authentic and fresh Mediterranean cuisine. We took it on ourselves to create the space and food we craved.

Aleppo’s Kitchen opened its doors in August 2013.

Building a New Home

Aleppo’s Kitchen originally opened in a hidden backdoor of an unassuming building that had no official address.

We spent hours on the phone each day with grandmother back home talking about recipes and techniques. We wanted to make homemade food just like it was in Syria.

Together with friends and family, we hand-built a restaurant that felt Mediterranean in every way, from the murals of the Aleppo Citadel to the menu filled with warm spices and colorful vegetables.

It was a new home for our family.

Today, Aleppo’s Kitchen has grown into a new, modern location, but our commitment to serving delicious, authentic, and wholesome food is unchanged.

Our menu is still built on the original recipes and techniques passed down by our grandparents. We only use high-quality and fresh ingredients, because we want to represent our cuisine well.

Mediterranean Cuisine the Aleppian Way.

Aleppo is a city of crossroads and the spiritual home of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern gastronomy.

The city’s unique cuisine has influences from a variety of cultures: Syrian, Turkish, Armenian, and East Mediterranean Coastal.

Within our cuisine you’ll find familiar staples, like creamy hummus and grilled kabobs. You’ll also discover lesser-known local favorites, like Kabsa (slow-braised lamb) and Shish Barak (Syrian ravioli).

Travelers often say Aleppo’s people are among the most friendly in the world, and we believe it’s true of our cuisine too.

We invite you to visit us and taste our heritage and history.

Aleppo’s Kitchen is the full manifestation of our belief that home is wherever we gather to eat great food.
